Our Beaver Nation Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Our Beaver Nation exists to support Oregon State student-athletes and help donors understand how their generosity makes an impact. Below are answers to common questions about membership, giving, benefits, and more.
Yes. Our Beaver Nation is a department within OSU Athletics and the OSU Foundation. Contributions made in support of student-athletes are processed through the OSU Foundation.
Yes. Every gift helps support the educational and athletic experience of OSU student-athletes. For example, a gift of $100 can help cover the cost of a textbook. All contributions make an impact.
Contributions support areas that enhance the student-athlete experience, including Scholarship and Educational Support, Leadership Development, and Student-Athlete Wellness.
Membership is included with qualifying Seat Contributions and/or parking in select areas, as well as with gifts made to the OSU Athletics Fund for Excellence. Both options provide Our Beaver Nation membership benefits.
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act eliminated the tax deductibility of ticket seat contributions and gifts that receive Beaver Points used for home-game ticket placement. All gifts to OSU Athletics default to receiving Beaver Points unless otherwise noted.
A Seat Contribution is a required donation that provides the right to purchase home game tickets for Football, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Basketball. Seat Contributions are collected at the time of season ticket purchase and are not tax deductible.
An Excellence Donation is a philanthropic gift that does not provide the right to purchase home game tickets. Examples include gifts to capital projects, endowments, sport-specific funds, or the OSU Athletics Fund for Excellence.
Excellence Donations provide critical resources for OSU student-athletes in education, leadership development, and wellness, helping enhance the overall student-athlete experience.
OSU Athletics Fund for Excellence donations and Seat Contributions earn Beaver Bennyfit Points, which can be redeemed for engagement opportunities. Points expire one year from the date of donation.
Yes. You are considered a member if your total annual Seat Contribution equals $100 or more.
Matching gifts for Seat Contributions vary by employer. The ticket holder is responsible for confirming eligibility and providing documentation if applicable.
The Oregon State University Foundation is a qualified charitable organization under section 170(b)(1)(A) of the Internal Revenue Code. Philanthropic gifts from an IRA or Donor Advised Fund (DAF) may support OSU Athletics, but they are not eligible for benefits of value, including Beaver Points, seating, or parking priority.
Many employers offer matching gifts for Excellence Donations. Please consult your employer prior to making your gift.
Yes. Seat Contributions for Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, and Baseball are specific to each sport.
Beaver Points are used for ticket placement for home contests in Corvallis, including season ticket upgrades, additional ticket requests, and select postseason events, such as the NCAA Women’s Basketball first and second round, Regional and Super-Regional baseball contests, or Men’s Basketball N.I.T. games.
Beaver Points are earned through annual giving, lifetime giving, ticket purchases, membership longevity, and select engagement activities.

Maintaining consistent membership and accepting Beaver Points with your gifts is the most effective way to increase your total. Seat Contributions always earn points. Excellence Donations offer a choice between tax deductibility and point accrual.
Seating is allocated based on Beaver Points. Continued Seat Contributions and Excellence Donations help increase priority. When making your Excellence Donation, accept the accrual of Beaver Points with the understanding your donation will not provide tax relief.
Total Investment includes lifetime OSU Athletics gifts, OSU Athletics ticket purchases since 2000, and ten percent of non-athletic lifetime giving to Oregon State University.
Total Investment is used to allocate tickets for athletic events played away from Corvallis and to assign parking for home games.
Additional donations to OSU Athletics, ticket purchases, and non-athletic giving to the OSU Foundation all contribute to Total Investment.
Parking is allocated based on Total Investment. Supporting OSU Athletics through giving and ticket purchases helps improve parking priority.
No. Parking passes for Football, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Basketball require both season tickets and Our Beaver Nation membership, as well as meeting the required parking contribution.

Parking is allocated based on Total Investment and availability. During the annual parking allocation window (April), donors select parking locations based on priority. Alternate selections are available if a preferred lot is full.
Both Excellence Donations and Seat Contributions count toward parking minimums. If a Seat Contribution does not meet the required level, the remaining amount may be fulfilled through an Excellence Donation.
A fictional example of this:
- Benny’s desired parking requires $5,000 of support
- Benny’s Seat Contribution = $3,600
- Benny’s Excellence Donation = $1,400
Yes. Consecutive years of OSU Athletics support are used as the tiebreaker.
